JOB FAIR - June 2010

This year brings new and exciting challenges for the foundation. We need to continue to grow and it is extremely important for us to continue to facilitate, encourage and support training of young people with the ultimate goal of entering the world of employment. With this in mind, we will continue with our job fair in June and our summer courses in fashion design, film production and basic motor vehicle technology.
The job fair in June 2009 was held in the Ocean Music Venue where we had 23 companies taking part. We hope to increase that number this year, all the signs are this will be possible from the number of companies expressing an interest.
The summer courses will be even more exciting; stay posted for more news as things develop.

We will also be working with Motorbase, a race team based in Kent who are willing to provide some work experience and visits to their garage and there is the possibility that participants will be invited to some of the races throughout the year as a part of the British Touring Car Championship. David Bartrum, team owner, is an advocate of encouraging young people into the motor trade and especially the motor sport sector of the industry.

For those of you who have attended previous events, you will know that this event showcases the talent of young people in the community and also remembers those whom we have lost through violent crimes in our community. MENTORING PROGRAMME - January 2010

Our schools mentoring programme runs all year round and this year we are looking at making it available to more Hackney schools. In the past two years we have worked with a core group of schools with the view of developing the programme to suit the needs of the individual school, groups within the school or an individual within the school. Year on year we have looked at ways in which we can improve the content and delivery to ensure it is effective in changing the mind set of those who believe that violence is the way to go as a way of life. This programme has been successful in the schools we have been working with so far. This is based on the positive feedback we have had from such schools, some of whom are located in various London boroughs.

WORK EXPERIENCE PILOT PROJECT - January 2010
Our work experience pilot project went extremely well last year. We worked with companies to provide meaningful work experience for students in law and also in areas such as business, admin, PR and communications. The foundation will continue with this project and with more companies expressing an interest in taking part we will be expanding this project in other areas as well as those mentioned above. Whilst these are just a few specific programmes we have planned for this year, others will be added as we progress through the year. Please keep visiting the website for regular updates.
